About A+ Awards
The A + Awards, a Celebration of Achievement and Excellence in Education
The A + Awards celebrates achievement and excellence in educational partnerships between individual schools and
Metro Atlanta business and organization. Additionally, Teachers of the Year are recognized and awarded for going above and beyond to
ensure that every child is afforded the best education possible. The A+ Awards Luncheon is annually attended by more than 1,000
community leaders, educators, students and concerned citizens – including the Mayor of Atlanta, Superintendent of the Atlanta
Public Schools, the Chair of the Atlanta Board of Education and numerous senior-level business executive.
The most significant factor in winning an award is the quality of the partnership activities and its impact/results on student
achievement.
A + Awards are presented in the following categories:
Rookie Achievement - This award is given to a new partnership that has been engaged for at least one school year and has exhibited exemplary achievement.
Innovative - This partnership supports the school goals and implements initiatives that capture the student’s attention with “out of the box” activities that greatly impact student achievement.
Summa Cum Laude - This coveted award is designed to recognize partnerships that have been in existence for 5 years or more and demonstrates measurable results that have impacted the school’s objectives for students, staff, and parents.
Collaborative - This award is based on the collaborative efforts of multiple business partners that work together to provide a unified action plan and resources to the school’s students and staff.
Community
This award recognizes a nonprofit organization, association or small business that consistently delivers available resources that impact the school’s objectives.
Mentoring Award
This award category recognizes a partnership that develops one-to-one relationships between a student and an adult that fosters a caring, supportive environment which emphasizes the individual needs of the student. The goal is to help students gain confidence, increase self-esteem and develop life skills.
Tutoring Award
This award recognizes a partnership that consistently provides volunteers to tutor students individually or in small groups for the purpose of reinforcing classroom instruction and improving academic achievement.
